4D ultrasound is an advanced imaging method that lets you see your baby in the womb in real time, showcasing their movements in 3D, 4D and %d HD Live. Here’s how it works:
1. What Is 4D Ultrasound?
- Combines 3D imaging with 4D motion (time is the fourth dimension) to create live videos of your baby. 5D is high definition.
- Provides detailed visuals of features like facial expressions and movements. In 2D we determine gender and from 28 weeks we can also see hair.
2. Preparing for the Scan
- Best done between 28-32 weeks of pregnancy for clear results.
- Stay hydrated for better image quality.
- Wear loose clothing and avoid lotions on your belly before the scan.
3. The Procedure
- A gel is applied to your abdomen to aid sound wave transmission.
- A handheld device (probe) is moved over your tummy to capture images.
- Real-time visuals of your baby are displayed on a huge 65inch tv and two other screens in our scan room.
4. Duration and Comfort
- Non-invasive and painless for mum and baby.
- Baby’s position may affect image quality as well as the amount of amniotic fluid in front of what we are focusing on.
5. Results
- Receive videos and still images of your baby to keep or share. We send these out digitally on all our package’s.
6. Safety
- Considered safe as it uses sound waves, not radiation.
- Mostly for bonding rather than medical diagnosis. Consult your healthcare provider or us beforehand if you have any questions.
- We adhere to t BMUS protocols and are regulated by the CQC.
A 4D baby ultrasound scan provides a special opportunity to bond with your baby and capture precious moments before birth. It’s also a wonderful way to share the experience with siblings, grandparents, friends, and family, offering them a glimpse into the miraculous journey of pregnancy.
Additionally, it provides reassurance as you get to see your baby in the womb during your scan with us and hearing the heartbeat for the first time.
