Many parents wonder if they will be able to see the baby’s hair during their ultrasound.

Baby’s Hair during Ultrasounds – and hair colour

Unfortunately 3D/4D ultrasound technology cannot see any hair on the baby –  unless they have a significant amount – and this shows as a ripple effect.  However standard 2d (black and white) ultrasound can usually pick up strands of hair from about 28 weeks! It is impossible to know what colour it is tho yet.

The images produced by ultrasound use sound waves of the baby in the womb. We can see great detail about the development including all babies facial expressions, from smiling, yawning opening their eyes, and occasionally looking super grumpy due to mum moving.

Babies also opening their eyes in the womb and we’ve seen a lot of voice recognition over the last 20 years while scanning.

At our Nottingham Window to the Womb studio, the Original, we provide these services to families, and have done for many years.
