When it comes to baby scans, the different dimensions (2D, 3D, 4D, and even 5D/HD) refer to how the ultrasound image is captured and displayed. Here’s a breakdown of each:

2D Ultrasound

  • What it is: Traditional black-and-white ultrasound that shows a cross-sectional image of the baby.
  • Best for: Medical purposes, checking the baby’s anatomy, growth, and detecting any potential abnormalities.
  • Appearance: Flat, grainy image with outlines of the baby.

3D Ultrasound

  • What it is: Uses multiple 2D images to create a more detailed, three-dimensional image of the baby.
  • Best for: Seeing the baby’s facial features, hands, feet, and skin surface in more detail.
  • Appearance: A more realistic, sculpted image of the baby’s face and body.

4D Ultrasound

  • What it is: Essentially a 3D scan but with real-time movement, like a video of the baby inside the womb.
  • Best for: Watching the baby yawn, stretch, or suck its thumb.
  • Appearance: A live-motion version of the 3D image.

5D/HD Live Ultrasound

  • What it is: An advanced version of 4D with improved clarity, contrast, and colour rendering.
  • Best for: Seeing the baby in stunning lifelike detail, almost as if looking at a newborn.
  • Appearance: Smoother, more realistic skin tones and depth, making the baby look more lifelike.

An 8K baby scan is the latest advancement in ultrasound imaging, offering an ultra-high-definition, highly detailed, and realistic image of the baby’s face. However, it’s important to note that 8K scans are not actual ultrasound scans but rather digitally enhanced images based on 3D or 4D ultrasound data.

How It Works:

A 3D or 4D ultrasound scan is performed to capture the baby’s face.
The image is processed using AI and digital enhancement to add skin texture, improve lighting, and refine details.
The final result is an incredibly lifelike, almost photorealistic image of the baby’s face, resembling a newborn. It works by interpreting the scan image to imagine what baby could look like.

Key Features of an 8K Baby Scan:

  • High-definition, ultra-realistic images
  • Enhanced skin tones and details
  • More depth, shadows, and lighting effects
  • Not a real-time scan but a processed image

Is It Worth It?

If parents want a keepsake image of their baby with more lifelike details, 8K scans are a great option.
However, for medical purposes, traditional 2D remains the standard.

8K can be done if you already have had your baby or you can have a scan with us and create a memory that will become a reality once little one is done.
